MacBornes is the Mac adaptation of a popular card game known in France as 'Mille Bornes' and where your objective is to reach 5,000 miles.
The game is played by two players, who both receive six cards. You put down mile cards at every turn to reach 5,000 miles. During play you can also give hazard cards to your opponent to slow him down. These go from a flat tire to an accident or many more other incidents. If your opponent gives you a hazard card you'll have to get a recovery card for the corresponding incident, like refill for an out of gas card. The game includes Safeties which give your car a special ability, like puncture proof tires or being a driving ace.
Although the graphics look a little weak, MacBornes is actually a successful adaptation of the card game and a great time waster. The rules are easy to pick up and games never last too long. We liked the sounds included in the game like the engine roaring or tires screeching. Although you can play with a friend over a network via Bonjour we would have liked to be able to play against more opponents though.
Despite being limited to two players and weak graphics, MacBornes is a good adaptation of a fun card game. A good time waster.
